The bright white lighthouse is perhaps the best known and most beautiful landmark of Noordwijk. The tower was built in 1922 and has six floors and a staircase with 108 steps. Once at the top, you have a spectacular view. The lighthouse has a range of light of 18 nautical miles (33 km)! The lighthouse has been a national monument since 1980. It is a beautiful viewpoint, but there is also something to see on every floor about the history of the lighthouse and about the Rescue Company that used to have an important relationship with the lighthouse. In spring, summer and autumn, the monument is open every Sunday between 11 and 16 hours. It is also possible to book a guided tour.
On the Lighthouse Plan you will also find a fountain in the shape of the Roman God Janus, the God with two faces. It has been there since 1964.
